Run for a Cause...10 Miles for 10 Years!

We are proud to announce the SIC lifeguards, the SICBP Alumnae Association and CFL are teaming up with an initiative in the 2009 Captain Bill Gallagher 10 Mile Run. Runners and teams can now raise money to support families with cancer by creating a custom webpage and encouraging sponsorship donations!

Inspired by Pete's valiant battle (a former SIC life guard), the beach patrol encourages individuals and teams to set their own fundraising goal. Any runner and/or team who raises $250 or more will receive the following:

1) free admission to CFL's Flip Flop Birthday Bash on August 15th at Minmar Marine in Sea Isle City
2) a CFL running shirt to wear race day to highlight your efforts (race shirts will be distributed at Maryann's Pastry on Friday and Saturday prior to the run), and
3) an invitation to celebrate the race's completion at a post race party at MaryAnn's Pastry Shoppe on 44th street (a block from the finish line!).

In addition to individual and team fundraising, The Sea Isle City Beach Patrol Lifeguards Association will donate $10.00 for every runner or team who raises $250 or more for the above stated mission of CFL.

Date of the run is August 8, 2009.  You must first REGISTER for the run on the SICBP website http://www.sicbp.com/. Please indicate Team CFL under your affiliation on the run registration application.

Once you have registered, create your own online fund raising page following the instructions below.

How To Get Started!

  • First, register for the run on the Sea Isle City Beach Patrol Website (http://www.sicbp.com/)
  • Plan out your personal fundraising page.  You can post photos, create a guestbook, collect donations online and offline and send e-mails to your friends, family and associates.
  • Gather the e-mails of all the people you would like to support you.
  • Set a fundraising goal.
  • Set up your page!  Click here to begin.  From your "champion center" you will be able to send personalized e-mails, track your progress and update your account.
  • Start training (see a sample schedule) - and cross the finish line for our Sailors and their loved ones!

Unable to Participate on the 8th?

You can still help CFL:

  • Participate in a marathon, triathlon, bike-a-thon, etc. of your own choice.  Most events allow the participant to fundraise on their own for a cause of their own choosing.  Our fundraising pages make it easy for you to solicit financial support!
  • Create a page in honor of someone special in your life and designate all funds raised to be donated in their honor.
  • Adopt-a-Family!  E-mail amber@crossingthefinishline.org and she can give you details of a family who will be traveling in the near future.  Create a page in honor of the family and collect donations that will support their respite excursion.
